Meet Shoichi

MATOI was opened on May 11, 2025, by two brothers who grew up in a family that runs an izakaya (a Japanese pub).

These days, the older brother, Shoichi, is usually the one behind the counter.

“Nigiwai sakaba” means “a lively drinking place.” Our Instagram profile puts it this way: one drink, or many. Every drink on the list is the same ¥600.
